Fair Week
14 07 2009For the last 10 years, I’ve spent this week at our county fair, followed by another week in August at our State Fair. This year, I have no need to attend either, as none of the kids in my group are showing livestock. The other family in my group (a homeschooling family with lots of kids) is currently in Italy.
I have mixed feelings. I really do feel like I should be in panic mode, packing up the farm to move 40 miles across the county.
I thought I’d post some pictures from our first county fair. You’ll notice one of my kids is compromised. That’s because 3 days before we were scheduled to pack up and leave, she shattered her ankle so badly it required surgery to correct. She still has the pin and plate. Trooper that she is, she spent the week camping and showing anyway.

I miss fair.

aw, they are so cute and little!
I know what you mean, even though we didn’t do fair the way you did and we aren’t out completely; it feels very different this year.
They are so cute!!!!!!! Do you miss them being little?
Maybe you should go for just a day or 2?
…sigh…
They’re so little in these pictures. so cute.
…sigh…
These are some beautiful babies. I’m wistful too. love, V
Wistful, that’s what I am.
Our fair was last week and since I forgot to resign as Fleece and Fiber supt, I spent all of half a day there with the judge. It’s simply not my “home away from home” anymore. I’m wistful too, even when sitting right there on the bleachers. Old photos of your kids are so much like old photos of mine…. such a spirited, determined bunch!
Sigh. I feel Sunrise, Sunset song fest coming on. And maybe Seasons In The Sun although that’s morbid. Cat’s in the Cradle? Oh, dear…I’m gonna have a drink and look through old photos of my kid. Sniff. Sniff. Maybe you should go to the fair next year…..
