For the last 10 years, I’ve spent this week at our county fair, followed by another week in August at our State Fair. This year, I have no need to attend either, as none of the kids in my group are showing livestock. The other family in my group (a homeschooling family with lots of kids) is currently in Italy.
I have mixed feelings. I really do feel like I should be in panic mode, packing up the farm to move 40 miles across the county.
I thought I’d post some pictures from our first county fair. You’ll notice one of my kids is compromised. That’s because 3 days before we were scheduled to pack up and leave, she shattered her ankle so badly it required surgery to correct. She still has the pin and plate. Trooper that she is, she spent the week camping and showing anyway.
