Storm day
22 11 2009In general, I know when a storm is coming. I get updates via my phone, email, and I do watch the TV weather. Last night I watched the news at 11 and went to bed - weather - clear Saturday night and Sunday. At 3:30 AM the electricity failed and the dinger thing on the auto generator starter went off, because I didn’t have the generator main power switch ON (had I expected a power outage, I would have been ready). I panicked because I thought it was the friggin’ smoke alarm. Wind was howling. I’d left the horses AND the sheep out last night - it was clear, cold, but they prefer being outside. The rain was coming down in sheets. I was a little freaked out. I went back to bed but didn’t sleep well, thinking about the cars not in the garage, the tarps haphazardly tossed over the lawn furniture, the animals out, trees coming down, limbs flying all over the place.
What the hell?
Today is bright and sunny, still no electricity from the source I pay for, generator is running, and I thought I’d do a quick blog entry to keep my momentum for NaBloWriMo. Logging off now, because despite the assurances of everyone who has backup power, I don’t completely trust that my electronics won’t fry. Now I’m off to pick up sticks, and probably take a nap.

Gives new meaning to “Take a walk on the wild side” doesn’t it?
Weather people, meh. They get paid wether they are right or wrong, nice work when you can get it.
Hope the grid-gods have you back on line soon.
Aww, honey, not good. How disorienting and weird. I hope the power comes back on right away so life is not too disrupted. unh. love, v
That wind was some wind! Our window was open only an inch but the wind was beating the vertical blinds to shreds.
